Ragdoll Cat Breed Profile, Characteristics

The Ragdoll cat was first bred in California in the 1960s. The founding cat was a Birman named Josephine.

Ragdolls are extremely affectionate, relaxed, gentle cats who love being around people. They tend to follow their owners from room to room.

Ragdolls have a distinctive colorpoint coat, blue eyes, and a large, muscular build. They are one of the largest domestic cat breeds.

Daily brushing is a must to prevent matting of their long fur. Ragdolls should be kept indoors and need lots of interactive playtime.

Care Tips

Ragdolls do exceptionally well with children and other pets thanks to their laidback personalities. They make great family companions.
